JoAnn has been called the “Czarina of disaster preparedness.” She evolved from being a professional wardrobe organizer to the go-to gal for crisis management. In the mid-1980s, she started her business, Organize for Action, and became a founding member of the San Francisco/Bay Area, National Association of Professional Organizers (NAPO).

From 1995 to 2005, JoAnn worked for the San Francisco Mayor’s Office of Emergency Services as the Community Disaster Preparedness Coordinator, delivering preparedness presentations to over 20,000 people. On September 11, 2001, she was responsible for activating the city’s key players and Emergency Operations Center. She also worked in Louisiana on the 2006 post Hurricane Katrina evacuation plan. Through the International Association of Emergency Managers, JoAnn is a credentialed Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) and serves on the Special Needs Caucus.

Her commitment to educate the public about being prepared is her life’s passion. She believes in inspiring the average citizen to get real and to get ready. JoAnn is a compelling speaker with a unique ability to refine complicated information in a simple and direct way. She is a frequent guest speaker at domestic and international conferences.
